outline

1) Illustration of the current global economic society, focusing on examples from the following themes:

� Population & the city �Economic growth �Resources & energy �Agriculture & food 

�Industry �Trade & international balance of payments �Finance �Information & communication�Environment �Human life & differences in living standards.

Discussions on the problems faced by the global economic society, with reference to literature by

Joseph E.Stiglitz (Nobel Prize for Economics Laureate, Former World Bank Senior Vice President).

2) Understanding the history of globalization processes in line with modernization of Japan.

Focus on development, direction headed for and problems faced by Japanese corporations undergoing

globalization processes, and discussions through specific case-studies.

3) Based on the understanding of the above points, prerequisites for "global human resources" in demand

by the global economic society are scrutinized, partly through discussions with the lecture participants,

and effective measures to be taken considered.

Examples of "global human resources" prerequisites: Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping; English &other Languages; Basic knowledge of modern history; Basic knowledge of international financing, etc.

Purpose of lecture:

1) To give a bird's eye view of the global economic society and consider its mega-trends.

2) To understand the history and current status of globalization processes of Japanese companies.

3) To consider the prerequisites for human resources ("global human resources") in the global economic society.
