outline
Main theme of the seminar is the role and structure of local government in the deveroping countries, especially asian countries.First we study about Japanese experiences of local government system, and then we turn to the recent trend of decentralization in asian countries.The focus points will be the design of intergovernmental organizational arrangements, financial mechanism, the accountability of local government and the capacity of their management system.
Course
objective
To understand the basic theory of local government and the role and challenges of local government system in the deveroping process, especially in Japan and other asian countries.
