outline
This lecture is on the Japanese developing process from the late of 1860's to the early of 1970's. The Japanese Westernized themselves rapidly and aimed to catch up with the western industrial countries after the Meiji Restoration in 1868. The Japanese prosperity was caused on the expansion policies, but it was ended by the defeat of the W.W.�.The Japanese experienced the 2nd Westernizaion as a result of the GHQ occupation.We will read the books which outline on the modern Japanese politics 1860-1970.

To understand the Japanese modern history as a depeloping country.

To conpare with the Meiji restoraion and the occupational democratization.
