| Course outline |
This course is designed to examine some problems of the World Trade Organization (WTO) legal system. The course topics will be chosen in consultation with students. In the light of today's proliferation of regional trade agreements, such as the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement of September 2006, the topics may include 'Regional trade agreements in the WTO legal system'. Students are expected to undertake presentations on assigned topics and make positive contributions to class discussion. |

The aim of this course is to develop an understanding of the principles of international economic law, of which WTO law is an important part. |

| Evaluation | Students will be assessed by their presentations and contributions to class discussion. A written examination may be held at the end of the course. |
| Prerequisites | Some prior knowledge of international law is useful but not essential. It is desirable that students will have taken 'Professional Studies in International Law' and 'Professional Studies in International Economic Law I'. |
