1. Installing the program
Step 2

Fetch the Windows installer

The FreeTime program is available for download, either via the English-language website of the law faculty, or directly from this link. If you use the software home page, the link for the Windows installer is circled in red in the illustration to the right. Click on the link to start the download.

This guide covers Windows installation only. The software works for other systems as well, but it must be installed in a different way. If you are a MacIntosh or Linux user, write to the address at the bottom of this page for advice on the installation process.

Step 2

Start the download

Windows will give you the option to start the installer immediately, or download it to a file. If you may want to run FreeTime Calendar on multiple computers, choose the download option. The download button is circled in red in the illustration to the right. Click on it to begin the download.

Step 2

Select the desktop for download

Before the download begins, you will be asked to select a folder in which to save the installer. For convenience, you may wish to save the file to your computer’s desktop. If you save it elsewhere, be sure to remember where it is located. After selecting a place to download the file, click on the download button, circled in red in the illustration to the right.

Step 2

Wait for the download to complete

When the download is complete, Windows will present a panel similar to that shown in the illustration to the right. When the download is complete, close the download panel. The installer file should now be available on your desktop.

Step 2

Click on the installer

Find the installer where you have downloaded it, and click on the file. In this example, we have downloaded the file to the desktop. The icon is circled in red in the illustration to the right. Click on it to start the installer.

Step 2

Click through the install questions

FreeTime uses a standard Windows installer, with support for English and Japanese. Click on the button circled in red in the illustration to the right, choose your favourite language, and click through the options to complete the installation.

Step 2

Finish the installation

The last panel in the installation process will be similar to the one shown in the illustration to the right. With the tick-box checked (the default), clicking on the Finish button (circled in red) will immediately start the FreeTime Calendar. It is a good idea to run the program to check that the installation was successful. We will click on the Finish button with the tick-box checked.

Step 2

Calendar software installed!

If this is the first time FreeTime Calendar is installed on the computer, the program will display a message like that shown to the right when you attempt to run it. This means that the installation was successful, but your personal configuration files are missing.

You can obtain personal configuration files by email. If you have not already received them, write to the address at the bottom of this page, requesting that they be sent to you. The files can be installed on multiple computers; each computer will show the same calendar. The files can be installed either directly onto the computer, or onto a USB memory stick. If you want to access your calendar from public-access computers, you should install your configuration files on a memory stick. Choose one of these options, and go to the next step.
